nutten9s is a multi-sport activity designed for fun, challenging yourself, and celebrating the incredible outdoor activities the Shenandoah Valley has to offer. Participants will complete the following in a single calendar day:

  • 9,000 vertical feet of alpine skiing/snowboarding
  • 9 holes of golf
  • 9 miles of mountain biking

All activities will take place at Massanutten Resort, with successful completion verified by the event Grand Master. Verification can be done via Strava or other digital activity tracking, or by completing the event alongside the Grand Master (preferred).

Details

Cost: $49 | Purchase price includes: Event ticket, golf greens fees, nutten9s t-shirt & stickers, and closing event reception with complimentary appetizers. Note: Ski ticket is not included and all equipment must be supplied by participant or rented separately (eg. golf clubs, ski rentals, and bike)

When: February 23, 2025

Schedule:

  • 9:00 AM: Alpine Skiing/Snowboarding (Meet at base of Creekside/Lift 4)
  • 12:00 PM: Golf (Woodstone Meadows Golf Course)
  • 3:00 PM: Mountain Biking on Western Slope (Meet at Overlook)
  • 6:00 PM: Event Social (Elevations Lounge)

Note: Times are subject to change based on conditions. Golf tee time is likely not flexible.

Where: Massanutten Resort

Why:

  • One of the few places in the country where you can enjoy all three sports on the same property in a single day with no additional travel.
  • A perfect way to close out the winter season and transition into spring/summer sports.

Rules

  • Each participant must individually complete all 3 activities (see Shamblerules for golf leg).
  • Proper equipment must be provided by each participant. Some sharing of golfequipment may be possible but is typically frowned upon by course staff or disallowed by rule.
  • Resort Fees must be provided by each participant (lift ticket, greens fee, cart fee, WS Trail Pass).
  • Resort rules must be followed at all times.
  • No whining.
  • Proper attire relative to each activity must be worn by each participant. Football jerseys are not allowed. Button shirts with spandex bottoms highly encouraged for ski and bike stages.
  • Golf will be played in Shambleformat with max stroke.
    • Each player hits a tee shot.
    • The best tee shot is selected by the team.
    • Each player finishes the hole individually from location of the best tee shot.
    • Keep individual scores -double par per hole max to ensure pace of play.
  • If participant does not have vertical or distance measuring device (e.g. Garmin watch), they may either participate with the Grand Master or complete the following prescribed courses.
    • Alpine: 12+ runs on chair 6
    • MTB: Overlook-Quarantine-Happy Hour-PL-Green Loop-Red White n Blue-Special K-2K
    • **Large expenditures toward purchase of tracking technology is highly encouraged.
  • This eventis self-supported – all hydration and nutritional needs must be provided by the participant. There will be one aid station located at the bottom of Western Slope but it will likely not include helpful offerings toward completion of the final climb.
  • At completion of the event, the nutten9s Grand Champion will be named. There is no criteria for this award and it will be at the sole determination of the Grand Master.
