Kris
My love of snow sports first began when I was 16. When I was able to drive, my dad allowed my sister and I to participate in learn to program at Massanutten. At age 19, I took my first flight to Colorado and skied with a boyfriend in Aspen and Snowmass and my attraction to the west took hold. By age 20 I decided to ditch the skis and learn how to snowboard. When I was 23 I went to a snowboard training camp in Mount Hood, Oregon.
Unfortunately on day three I broke my back in the park. Spent a week in ICU and barely avoided surgery. I ended up wearing a brace for seven months while living with family in Portland. In my early 30s I lived in Silverthorne, Colorado and worked at Copper Mountain. Naturally, I snowboarded every ski area in Summit and Eagle counties. Most recently I spent five years in Big Sky, Montana snowboarding all around Montana and Wyoming. I even had the privilege of snowboarding two days a month on private powder at the elite Yellowstone Cub as an employee perk. To date, I have snowboarded in 12 states, East and West Canada, and an epic trip to snowboard in Switzerland, Italy and France!
My hometown of Massanutten, Virginia is where it all began, and so I am excited to be an ambassador here this winter, sharing my love of snowboarding and of The Nutt! It is the gem of Virginia!
